Chapter 562 - 339: Is it a Dream?
Deep in the Greater Xing’an Mountain.
Between the sky and the sea of trees, there was no distinct boundary, only a chaotic expanse of white.
The cold wind, like countless tiny blades, swept mercilessly through the still forest. It carried with it grains of snow that danced wildly in the air before gently settling onto the thick layer of snow below.
The snowflakes did not fall one by one but in clumps and clusters that blanketed every treetop and every branch, turning the originally profound green into endless silver-white.
The paths between the trees had been buried by snow, leaving only a few faint animal tracks that spoke of life’s recent pulsations.
But they too were soon covered by snow.
In such weather, it certainly wasn’t suitable to venture out.
Especially when coupled with the complex mountain forest terrain of the Greater Xing’an Mountain, it became an even more forbidding place for living creatures to tread at will.
In such an environment outside, no amount of warming measures would suffice. Even the sturdiest equipment seemed insignificant before this display of natural force.
Thick down jackets, waterproof boots, double-layered gloves—these usual tools against the cold now seemed as fragile as if made of paper.
The cold air penetrated everywhere, through multiple layers of clothing, piercing straight to the bone, making one shiver uncontrollably.
