Chapter 57 - 56 Monsters Don’t Stay Dead (3)
The vine screeched before tightening around her, bolting up against her body with the speed of light. Its thorns pierced into her flesh, secreting venom into her bloodstream. The girl’s scream died in her throat, her eyes widened, drops of tears rolling down her face.
Blood drained from Olivia’s face—the horror, the blood-chilling scream, the speed of the slimy vines. Her stomach churned, her stomach contents pushing against her throat, trying to erupt from her mouth.
Her face turned red from the pressure. A single sound meant death. The veins had already crawled up to her chest, extending to her arms. Her eyes locked with those of Klaus, who was standing beside her. He looked like he was also struggling to remain calm.
Soon, the student was covered with the monster’s black, slimy veins.
"No matter what, you all must not move. I know this is terrifying, and you all are doing a great job. Remain calm," Verax encouraged. His eyes scanned the classroom, which was already covered with the monster’s vines. Some of the students were almost covered with them. Even if they managed to stay calm and quiet, they would soon die from suffocation.
Meanwhile, to Lucian, he was holding a ticking time bomb. His hand clasped around her mouth—she had almost screamed from the earlier incident. The air in the room thickened; the tension was so high that the students could hear their own heartbeats in their ears.
Lucian’s eyes flickered to Olivia. The vines were creeping too fast up her body. His throat tightened. They couldn’t just stay still waiting for death. The Wailwood monsters were scared of fire and high-pitched sounds...
His thoughts were disrupted by Verax’s words. "We have to work together. We can’t stay here any longer. Does anyone have sonic attributes? If you do, I want you to use it when you hear me count three to one. And we all know Olivia is famous for her fire attributes. Olivia, you have to use your fire to stop them as others escape," his words echoed in their ears.
"I will build a barrier so they cannot escape. If there is anyone who can draw a soundproof rune, this will be the perfect time to do so now." His voice came out more desperate than he intended.
