Chapter 93: Sympathy? No!
"Grace? What happened? Why do you look like you are crying?" A female voice called, and everyone looked at her.
It was Grace’s mother who came along with Helena’s father.
Helena saw them together and couldn’t help but frown.
Madam Hedworth walked to Grace and grabbed her hand in worry as she asked, "What happened? Did someone bully you? Who did that?"
Grace sniffed softly but also stiffened. Bully? If she said that the Master and Madam Morris were bullying her, would she be able to stay in the country anymore?
"Mom, what are you talking about? No one bullied me. Please calm down, will you?" She pleaded softly. She even squeezed her palm tightly to indicate for her to stop.
She thought that her mother would understand what she meant.
Unfortunately, her mother misunderstood her actions and even interpreted them in a completely opposite way.
She thought that her daughter was pleading with her to continue supporting her, and she immediately nodded, "Grace, why are you like this? Even when others bullied you, you still would never stand up for yourself. My heart aches when you do this. Even if you don’t have your father with you anymore, you still have me, your mother, by your side. I will stand up for you. Don’t worry about anything and just tell me what happened and who bullied you, okay?"
"..." Grace stiffened. She couldn’t understand how her mother did not understand her signal just now. It wasn’t the first time she and her mother had put on an act in front of the outsiders. So, she thought that a small signal would let her mother understand what she meant immediately.
She squeezed her mother’s hand harder. The latter frowned and looked at her daughter in confusion. She even raised an eyebrow asking her what happened.
