He steeled himself and turned to his father-in-law, "Ehehe. I am sorry, father."
"..." Father Ford’s lips twitched. He did not know if he should be happy or sad that his son-in-law followed his daughter’s words and was even scared of her.
"Ehem. We have an important event we have to attend tonight. So, we have no choice either. We need to leave now if we could get ready and attend it," Vernon said seriously.
Looking at his serious expression, Father Ford was unsure if he was telling the truth or not. Anyway, he already understood that his daughter wouldn’t stay no matter what. So he casually nodded and let them leave.
Just when they reached the door, Helena stopped. Without turning back, she spoke, "I will inform you of the time for our trip. Be ready by then."
Father Ford’s lowered head jerked upwards at once. He excitedly nodded, "Okay, okay. Take care on your way. Don’t rush. Be careful. Call me if you need anything."
His eyes watered as he gave a bunch of instructions to her even though he couldn’t see her face. He was excited that his daughter talked to him - with no outsiders present.
Helena could hear the tremble in his voice. She bit her lower lip to stop herself from turning around to face him.
She clenched her fist and walked away.
Vernon looked at the father and daughter duo in confusion before he followed his wife out.
He really wanted to know what the problem between them was. In his previous life, such a problem never existed. This made him even more curious.
