Chapter 155: What Was The Reason?
"No, I don’t know you."
Lunara replied instantly, blinking rapidly, trying to mask the nervousness she felt from lying. She couldn’t explain why she’d said it, but something in her gut told her it was better to lie than to tell the truth.
Lucas tilted his head slightly, eyes slow and calculating. "Then what are you doing here?"
Without hesitation, Lunara pointed at the house. "This is my house."
Lucas didn’t answer right away. He glanced at the house, then back at her, clearly unconvinced.
"This house?" he said slowly. "That can’t be right."
"Why not?" Lunara asked, trying not to sound defensive.
He gave her a look, the one that was not quite hostile, but sharp enough to sting.
"Because this is my mother’s place."
Lunara blinked. "Your mother?"
"Hmm, my mother," he said, voice flatter this time. "Are we siblings then?" It was not really a question, more like a sarcasm as he believed Lunara was lying.
