My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back

Chapter 108: No Calm After The Storm

Eryx closed the car door after Lunara got in, the soft thud of the door cutting through the stillness of the cemetery. He turned and locked eyes with Callum, who stood near the vehicle with a solemn expression. The weight of Mila’s death lingered in the air, heavy and unspoken.

"Check where Amara was a few days before Mila’s death. Look into any connections she might have had with the woman who kidnapped Mila," Eryx ordered, his voice unwavering but tinged with the sharp edge of frustration.

Callum furrowed his brows, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. "Sir, do you think she was the person behind this?"

Eryx shook his head, his jaw tightening as he stared off into the distance. "I don’t think so. But check anyway, just in case I misjudged. We can’t afford any mistakes."

Callum hesitated for a moment, processing the weight of Eryx’s words, then nodded. "Understood, sir. I’ll get on it."

Eryx watched as Callum walked away, his thoughts already drifting back to the unsettling silence of the graveyard.

Knocking on the driver’s side window, Eryx spoke to the driver. "Uncle, I’ll drive today. Can you go back with Callum?"

The driver nodded instantly, understanding the situation, before leaving to rush over to Callum’s car.

Opening the back door, Eryx found Lunara fast asleep, her head resting gently against the seat, her breathing steady. The past few days had worn her thin—too many tears, too little sleep.

Without a word, he leaned in and carefully scooped her into his arms.

She stirred slightly, her eyelids fluttering open for just a moment, confused but too tired to speak. Instinctively, her arms looped around his neck as her head dropped against his shoulder. It wasn’t conscious, just her body reacting to the warmth and steadiness she didn’t know she needed.
