Chapter 98: The Price of a Loose Tongue
Lunara stepped out of the ice cream shop, the door clicking shut behind her as she exhaled slowly. The afternoon sun spilled over the street, warming her damp clothes.
Naomi trailed close behind with Mila in her arms, "Let’s just go back, it must be sticky."
Lunara just hummed as a reply. But then, they had almost reached the car when a hand yanked Lunara’s arm.
"Don’t even think about walking away!" Sienna barked.
Lunara, who was being turned forcefully, took another long breath, her expression almost identical with the cold expression Eryx always put up. Sienna’s manicured nails were still gripping her sleeve, her lipstick slightly smudged, and the faint red mark on her cheek glowing like a badge of wounded pride.
"I’m not done with you!" Sienna snapped. "You think you can assault me in public and just walk off? I’m going to sue you for this. Hair-pulling, slapping, public humiliation... Oh, this is going viral."
She reached for her phone again, waving it dramatically as if the screen alone could summon a courtroom.
Lunara snapped her arm back, but Sienna’s grip only tightened.
"Let me go," Lunara said through gritted teeth, her low voice sounding a bit threatening. "You assaulted me first and expected me to just stand there? What am I? A punchbag?"
Sienna scoffed. "You provoked me! You think being pretty and pretending to be calm gives you the right to humiliate me?"
Lunara’s eyes darkened, the last thread of her patience fraying. She took a step closer, her voice cool but sharp enough to cut.
