My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back

Chapter 80: Test The Theory

Lunara’s breath caught in her throat at his words. The way he looked at her like he was so certain. It made something inside her twist painfully. She hated it. Hated how easily he could see through her, how she could never seem to hide her emotions from him.

Before she could react, Eryx moved. His lips crashed against hers, stealing the air from her lungs. The kiss was firm, intense, like he was trying to make her feel something she didn’t want to admit.

For a fleeting second, her body betrayed her. She responded, fingers gripping his shirt, heart pounding. But then, the realization hit.

With a sharp inhale, she shoved him away.

Lunara staggered back, pressing a hand to her lips as if that could erase the feeling. Her chest rose and fell, her pulse unsteady. But what unsettled her the most wasn’t the kiss itself, it was how easily he made her lose control.

"I hate this..." she whispered, more to herself than to him.

Eryx’s gaze darkened. "Lunara—"

"I hate myself," she cut him off, her voice unsteady. "Because no matter how much I try to fight it, I can’t stop feeling this way." Her fingers curled into fists at her sides. "And you—" She exhaled sharply. "You know that, don’t you? That’s why you keep doing this."

Eryx’s frown deepened. "Know what?"
