My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back

Chapter 59: A New Beginning

Lunara didn’t respond right away. The room felt heavier, filled with words left unsaid. She traced the edge of the blanket with her fingers, buying time, before finally exhaling.

"I don’t know," she admitted, her voice softer than before. "Maybe I just don’t trust you to mean it."

Eryx ran a hand down his face, exhaling slowly. He had expected this. Maybe even deserved it. But hearing her say it out loud still stung in a way he wasn’t prepared for.

"I don’t blame you," he admitted, leaning back slightly. "I wouldn’t trust me either."

The words left his mouth before he could stop them, and for a moment, he wasn’t sure why he even said them. He wasn’t here to chase after her, wasn’t here to beg for trust he had already shattered. So why was he still sitting here, losing sleep over her silence?

Lunara’s fingers stilled against the blanket, but she didn’t lift her gaze. He could tell she was weighing his words, searching for meaning in them.

"Can you..." He paused, hesitating the words that he was trying to say, "can you give me one last chance? I need to figure out one thing and our relationship, I am sure, I broke your trust already but the two years that I had messed up, I found like I need to fix it."

Lunara’s heart wavered. She wanted to hold on to her anger, to remind herself of every reason she shouldn’t trust him. But as she sat there, looking at him, his tired eyes, the way his brows pinched slightly like he was bracing for rejection, something inside her softened.

She hated that he still had this effect on her. That despite everything, a part of her wanted to believe him.
