Mr Bodyguard, Protect Your Heart!

Chapter 131: WHAT A NONSENSE

"If you want to keep waiting, it’s up to you," Grace said with an impassive expression. "But out of courtesy, I may tell you that the CEO is stuck somewhere important and couldn’t make time today. If you want to see her in the office, kindly take an appointment."

She lied effortlessly, making an excuse for her boss, even though she was well aware that the woman in question was currently enjoying her lunch in her office.

It was her job, after all. If her boss declared that the city would drown in sugar syrup tomorrow, it was her duty to swear it was indeed happening.

Besides, at this moment, Grace wasn’t too fond of CEO Philip either. Although it still seemed like Dove was in the wrong for whatever abrupt decision she had made, Grace, for reasons she couldn’t quite explain, didn’t like the Davis family either. She felt no remorse.

What followed Grace’s words was a pin-drop silence.

Philip was stunned. How many people dared to talk back to him like this?

And a mere assistant, no less!

He opened his mouth to retort, but then closed it again. For once, he found himself at a loss for words, especially when Grace calmly pointed out that they had no right to pass judgment on how she did her job.

Was he going to threaten her?

The situation was so pathetic that he couldn’t even do that. Despite being the CEO of Davis Enterprises, he was unable to intimidate a simple assistant. He remained silent—oddly silent—while rage boiled inside him.

Even the two assistants, who were playing no more role than being a decorative piece behind, were shocked. They knew their Boss’s temper. And they instantly knew that the CEO’s blood was boiling at the moment. But well, they found it better to act like they did not exist, specially when apparently they still had no work right now.
