I froze.

The door clicked shut behind me, and my stomach twisted into a knot, and cold sweat formed on my forehead.

I didn’t turn around immediately. I couldn’t. I could not do it even though, I really wanted to turn around and see who entered the room, knowing well, it would be Kathrine.

I just stood there, my fingers still hovering over that stupid little purple bike.

I knew who it was.

I felt her.

Her presence was like a sudden shift in the air—something unavoidable, something that seeped into my skin whether I wanted it to or not.
