Chapter 15: Figure Watching Me

It had been two days since the party. I hadn't seen Kathrine since then.
Saturday night was chaos, and on Sunday, like every Sunday, I went to church. I sat in the confessional and told the Father about all my sins.
He absolved me, as he always did, and I promised—like I always did—that I'd be better. And for a moment, I believed I could be.
Monday came and went to school, but Kathrine was nowhere to be seen.
Her brother, Nick, was around with Nancy, but Kathrine wasn't. It was strange.
For someone like her, who practically lived for her perfect attendance, it didn't make sense.
Now it was Tuesday, and her absence still hung in the air like an unspoken question.
At school, I ran into Alex near the lockers.
Our group was gathered, loud and obnoxious as always, laughing about whatever nonsense came up.
"Still no sign of Kathrine," I said, leaning against the locker.
