Chapter 56: Proposal
"I can’t believe he recruited four girls for his team," Tyson said, sucking on his straw as he sipped his smoothie.
Nancy sat opposite him, idly stirring her drink with her straw and hardly paying attention to his words. The two were at a small table next to the bustling street, where cars honked and pedestrians walked by, caught up in their ordinary discussions.
"So what if he’s popular with the girls—" Tyson began again, but his words faded when his phone vibrated. He looked at the screen, and a small smile appeared on his lips.
Nancy’s eyes darted over to him. "Who is it?"
"Oh, nobody," Tyson replied casually.
"Show me," she said, extending her palm up, silently demanding his phone.
She wasn’t about to take any chances. If Tyson’s brother could shamelessly flirt, who’s to say Tyson wasn’t doing the same? Sure, both were popular with girls, but Tyson, bless his clueless soul, was usually oblivious. He could barely pick up on her hints when she threw them at him—so how could she trust that some scheming admirer wouldn’t trick him?
Nancy needed to ensure that other girls wouldn’t lure away her innocent boyfriend. She knew their games all too well.
