Chapter 47: Mad Man
Coco stood a few meters away, looking over the collapsed building. His purple aura glowed threateningly around his metal armor, excluding a quiet strength in the midst of destruction surrounding him. Once alive with clashing warriors, the battlefield was now filled with chaos.
Just moments ago, it had appeared that the Rangers and Rogues could overwhelm Coco by sheer numbers. However, his clever tactic had turned their advantage into a death trap. Now, nearly two-thirds of their forces were buried beneath the debris, trapped under shattered glass, twisted steel, and mountains of concrete.
Panic set in quickly. The survivors of the collapsed building ran to the wreckage, frantically trying to rescue their comrades in trouble. The Rangers and Rogues used their armor-enhanced strength to lift heavy steel beams to clear away stone slabs. Yet, for every individual they freed, another wail of pain echoed beneath the debris.
The lieutenant stepped forward, his voice cutting through the chaos.
"Pull him out, Sergeant!" he commanded, grunting as he lifted a massive steel beam out of the way.
The sergeant paused. "Sir... he’s a rogue."
"I don’t give a damn!" the lieutenant snapped, his eyes blazing with anger. "Get him out now!"
The Ranger obeyed, taking the outstretched, dusty hand from the wreckage. With a firm tug, he pulled the Rogue free. The man’s metal armor saved him from the brunt of the collapse, but the impact had rendered him barely conscious.
"Is he okay?" the lieutenant asked, kneeling to assess his condition. He touched the rogue’s armor, sensing his chest’s faint rise and fall.
"He’s breathing... We have to get everyone out of there. Go! Get the others to help—regardless of who they are!"
The sergeant gave a nod. "Yes, sir!" He rushed off, yelling orders to the scattered fighters.
