His Mafia Prince

Chapter 225: We Are All Going to Die

(SASHA)

Detective Burgess has been snapping at my heels for a moment and now, she seems to have persuaded her overlords to grant an arrest warrant against me. Now that I am grounded, I know that it will just be a matter of time before they find charges that will stick. I suppose. She is part of the task force which had focused on trying to pin down my father for years, and Burgess, in particular, has fully turned her attention to him. He had been in her radar for months.

And now, it seems like it is my turn.

Two uniformed officers follow in the room after her. One of them is already swinging handcuffs from a finger while smirking at me insolently.

"You can’t be in here." Tyler snaps. "Only family is allowed in here."

The detective laughs. "Can’t be in here?" she repeats. "You are funny, Tyler."

"Fuck you." Tyler retorts. Ivan tell that he is unsettled by the fact that Burgess knows which buttons to push.

Marco stands up tall, making himself wide and imposing. "What the hell is happening here? Sasha just came out of surgery. He needs to rest. He can’t be moved. Doctor’s orders."

Burgess stares at him for a moment before recognition dawns on her face. "Well, fuck me." She says. "The uncle. So you are still alive, eh, Marco? We had a pool running at the office. I really thought you’d be dead already. I guess I’ll be fifty bucks out when I get back to the precinct."

"What do you want?" Tyler demands as he moves around the bed to stand on the foot, like he will physically protect me from the law if he has to.

Burgess gives him a sweet smile. "I am here to arrest your husband, Tyler. After dispersing the rag tag of criminals who have been loitering around the hospital these last few days. Intimidating fellas those ones."
