Chapter 136: You Leave Me No Choice
(ARLO)
Not so long ago, all I could think of was revenge against Sasha. Now, my thirst for revenge has faded. I still however blame Sasha for what he did to my father. He taunted him and when he was finally done he made sure to leave him dead. But now, I’m beginning to see a different side of the story. Not that I am justifying Sasha killing my father. The punishment he gave him for attacking Tyler was too much.
Also, the respect I have for Miles has softened me towards Sasha a bit. Much as most people like to dismiss Miles’ loyalty to Sasha as some form of weakness, I don’t see him as so. Miles isn’t a yes man. He is a brave and intelligent alpha who has proven beyond doubt the lengths he would go to protect me. There has to be a reason he has served Sasha loyally for that long. He knows Sasha for who he is but still stands by him. He is my alpha. His obedience towards his boss has influenced me. The urge to kill Sasha is slowly fading.
Dalton must have noticed something in my expression because of the way he curls his lip. "Wait, did you change your mind and don’t want revenge anymore?" he gives me a look of pure disgust and sounds dubious. "How can you not want revenge against Sasha?"
"I still hate him."
"Is that it now? You just hate him, nothing more? Did you forget how angry you were at him a few weeks ago?"
"I haven’t forgotten anything, Dalton. What will I gain if I kill Sasha now? I won’t get any closure from that. At least, I understand that now. There’s nothing that I can do now to bring my father back. I don’t want to go against Sasha either. That’s a fight I’d very much like to avoid now."
"So, you mean to tell me that you are just going to marry Miles and live happily ever after while under the thumb of that fucker Sasha Adonis?"
"Happily ever after might be a long shot, but after that stunt you pulled, I’m never going to trust a traitor like you ever again," I mutter.
He sighs frustratedly. "Well, this was a fucking waste of my time." He pulls a knife out of his coat. "I risked my life coming here to convince you. I’m not going to do this a second time. Now, will you change your mind and come to work with me? This is your last chance."
"There’s no other answer other than the one I’ve given you." I spit as my gaze drops to the knife in his hand.
