Chapter 93: They Aren’t Born Leaders

I keep breaking the poles, trying to get a sharp edge out of each. It’s not like I have anything to do, so this could as well distract me. Once again I hear noises from the other side of the door at the top of the stairs, and my weapon-making is distracted. I scowl as I strain my ear trying to eavesdrop.
Yellow eyes and Arlo can’t surely be quarrelling. I find it hard to believe. Yellow Eyes is too submissive and loyal to challenge his boss. I keep eavesdropping but before I can make sense of whatever the quarrel is about, the door opens.
Three men that I don’t recognize shuffle down the stairs. I watch them warily. One is an older alpha with blonde hair, wearing a suit and a pink tie. The other two are younger alphas. They don’t look friendly at all. There is no sign of Arlo and yellow eyes. Who could these people be? Do they work for Arlo?
They don’t notice me at first because of the poor lighting down here but once they near the cot area, the older alpha notices me. He curls his lips and mumbles something in Italian that I don’t quite catch. I speak Italian but the way he speaks makes it difficult for me to grasp his words. One of the younger alphas heads back up the stairs.
The other younger alpha inches closer to me and I back away. It’s dangerous enough being here without a weapon when I’m used to having one. I feel naked without a weapon.
"Who the fuck are you?" I make sure to school my voice just so I sound intimidating enough to make him back off.
"I’m Dalton Baccalieri." The alpha says in a tone that suggests that I should put some respect on his name.
I have heard of the Baccalieris Syndicate, Terra Nova, and I know that they share blood ties with the Sovereign Ring syndicate. Even so, I still don’t recognize this alpha.
