This was the first word spoken so softly that it was like a whisper.

The ladies thought they’d heard wrong and leaned forward with the intent to hear what was spoken louder.

But having seen their reaction, the word was repeated but loud enough for all in the room to hear it.

"Prostitutes."

And the shock of having heard it coming from the mouth of a princess like themselves, while one among them was shocked more to have heard such a vulgar word coming from her little sisters mouth.

"Adelia, explain yourself! If you’ve come just to sully our simply guilty pleasure of taking tea, i swear i’ll put you over my knee right here!"

These young ladies were well aware of the words in use by the commoners but they were also aware the words were like curse words, in noble circles the proper term would be consort, or mistress.

But as the three began interrogating the young lady they became shocked that the conclusion they’d jumped to was wholely incorrect.

They assumed the young lady had broken down and was willing to submit herself to Julius as a consort or mistress, giving up her royal heritage and noble pride for a chance at greater freedom.

While the others thought she was opening herself up to becoming a lover of one of Julius’s generals or vassals to leave this place and regain even an iota of the power they once held as royal ladies of the court.
