Imperator: Resurrection of an Empire

Chapter 198: National Overview

The centralization of power in his new nation was going really well since there was hardly any nobility to begin with it was simple to inform those who remained of the changes and that nobility was now a relative thing of the past those who had skills were recruited to the new government structure, those who had no skills still retained their own wealth and therefore could open new businesses or invest in other’s startups, or even enlist themselves or their families into the military where they could gain further merits.

Julius as the central figure, had begun to reform the known governmental system by beginning the creation of his various departments, starting with the Department of Military Affairs, The Department of Finance, and The Department of Civil Affairs.

These three being the core trio required from the beginning, as his military was centrally managed the creation and deployment of the forces would be done from this department with Julius as the overall commander in chief, The department of finance being in charge of the merchants guild, and the overall process of tax collection and currency creation, while civil affairs plotted roadways, official appointments, and managing the eventual formation of the senate.

As it stood now, almost everything was still running through Julius himself, however with time as these other departments took form his involvement would become less and less but the overall power of the nation would still reside in his hands.

At most he was prepared to allow 30% of his overall power to rest in the hands of others collectively while the remaining 70% would be his.

And with the creation of public schools he could elevate his people further but only to a certain degree, by adding to their knowledge they could work better, come up with new inventions or tactics and join his research teams but not be educated enough to question his reign or possibly rise up against him destroying him and his nation from within.

By bridging the gap between the local populace and the former nobles it would open possible common ground and reduce the overall unrest typically seen as the only ones truely standing above the common man would be their Grand Duke or Future Emperor should he make it that far.

Having been satisfied with what he’d seen after turning round to give a parting wave to the crowd and give a final glance around at his now bustling capital city.

After entering the palace he ascended the stairs until he’d reached his penthouse suit, entering through the doors, and stripping off his traveling clothes.
