Chapter 9: Provincial Cleanup (1)
Baron Burke started complaining left and right about how I as the lord had no right to arrest him but needless to say I still did.
As the Baron was taken away by the few actually on-duty guards in chains, other soldiers came forward with looks that were plainly obvious they were about to bribe me or something to restore my good mood and attitude towards the goings on here.
"Milord, what happened to the commander? Did he not meet your expectations?"
Expectations?
Giving the solider a cold hard stare the man carried on in a hurried tone
"We've gotten the peasant involved in the fights and we're bleeding 'em dry, even doing a couple of fixed matches to ensure they don't walk away with any money."
A gambling den, my barracks is nothing more than a gambling den, and worse still it's a crooked one...
Seeing that my frown intensified the man brought forth the coup de grace.
"Come this way milord the new event is just about to begin!"
Obviously pleased with himself for getting the honor of guiding me.
I was led around to the backside of the barrack where a running track was present and a starting gate which from afar I could tell had chained up women contained within.
