Chapter 159: She Is Alive
The next day, Evelyn woke up to find Kiana curled up to her. She looked on the other side of the bed to find it empty. Zevian must have probably brought their little bear here, she thought patting Kiana’s head.
"Mommy.." Kiana grumbled, moving closer and snuggling in her mother’s warm embrace. "Aunty Avery rolls a lot, I couldn’t sleep last night."
Evelyn chuckled at the little girl’s complaints. "You can sleep in your room. I will tell you bedtime stories until you are asleep."
Kiana’s sleepy face beamed and she looked up at Evelyn, her eyes droopy. "Really?" When Evelyn nodded, she grinned and hugged her tightly. "Mommy’s the best!"
"And my little bear is the sweetest," Evelyn replied with a smile, pecking the little girl’s forehead. Just her presence was enough to wash away all her worries and she was indeed lucky to have met her.
"It’s the weekend! Should we go out?" Kiana asked in a low murmur. She had been impatiently waiting for Evelyn to return from her business trip but then those bad guys caught her. The little girl still didn’t understand why Annabelle died and how her Mommy was linked to it, but one thing she was sure is that was not wrong. Super Mommy’s can never hurt good people!
Evelyn thought about it with a weary smile. Zevian had specifically mentioned there would be third wheels between them on their date today. But Kiana was left alone for so long and needed time to be with them too.
"Alright." Evelyn agreed, making a note to convince Zevian later. It would take some time for these two to stop fighting over her attention and she hoped it would be soon.
"Yay!" Kiana sat up on the bed and did her little hand dance making Evelyn laugh out loud. She pulled the little girl in a hug, both giggling and enjoying their peaceful morning.
Zevian finished his work early and rushed back home only to find Kiana all set for their date on the couch. The little girl was wearing a green dress with a frog cartoon over it, paired with a frog hat and a green sling bag.
"Daddy! Daddy!" Kiana jumped down from the couch and rushed to hug her Daddy. "I heard you are taking us on a date! I am so happy ~" The little girl excitedly declared, even before he could object to it.
