Chapter 134: Our Villa
By the time Evelyn landed with Ronan, night had already fallen over Montedoro City. A line of bouncers waiting for their boss quickly rushed over as the jet landed. One of them stepped forward and smiled at Evelyn, recognizing her from her last visit.
"It’s good to see you again, Madam Grace," Carson greeted her with a smile. He was Ronan’s right hand, a man who handled everything in their Master’s absence, and failing to do so would be like disobeying him.
"How have you been, Carson?" Evelyn chatted as they headed out of the airport. The bouncers formed a shield around them, with Ronan beside her and Carson following close behind. "Did you find a girlfriend yet?" she teased, recalling how he’d grumbled last time about being over thirty and still single.
"I’ve been quite busy for that," Carson replied, pursing his lips.
"He just doesn’t want to ruin a girl’s life," Ronan interjected, offering the real reason. Carson silently glared at Ronan, making Evelyn laugh out loud. These lighthearted moments with those around her kept her grounded, and she hoped they’d help this time, too.
But her happiness was short-lived as they reached the airport entrance. Four men dressed in black stood by a black SUV, with a woman in front of them. Ronan’s men instinctively reached for their weapons, thinking the group was there to attack. Though the woman appeared cheerful and kind, looks could be deceiving in their world.
"Oh, she’s here!" The woman’s face lit up when she saw Evelyn. She rushed forward, only to be blocked by Ronan’s men. Ronan stepped up, shielding Evelyn within their protective circle.
"Fucking bastards! I’m not a mobster like you! Move aside," the woman muttered in Italian, her scowl having no effect on the men. They tried to push her away, but her bouncers quickly stepped in, both sides ready to fight.
"Ma’am!" The woman waved at Evelyn, realizing the situation was getting tense. "We were sent by Master Reign. He owns a villa here, and we’re in charge of it." She introduced herself, though it only made the group more suspicious.
