The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot

Chapter 94: They Are Dead

Evelyn’s mind raced at the man’s words, trying to process the shocking news and get clues of it. The possibility that... Gracia might be alive... It sent a shiver down her spine, her heart almost afraid to believe it.

Her thoughts raced back to the moments with Mariam, the woman had babbled seemingly nonsensical words about Gracia’s death, and now with Reema gone, Evelyn couldn’t shake the suspicion that there was more to the story. It unsettled her, making her question not just about Gracia’s death but everything she had chosen to accept about her past, her birth until now.

Avery equally stunned came out of her daze. She quickly thanked the middle-aged man and turned to her friend. Placing a hand on Evelyn’s arm, she brought her back to the present and suggested softly, "We need to call Damien! He will surely help us find them quickly."

Evelyn nodded, her mind too clouded to argue. Avery immediately dialed Damien’s number, but even after a few rings, he didn’t pick up.

"This bastard..." Avery cursed under her breath as she tried again. This time, Damien picked up for a second before hanging up almost immediately. Avery stared at the phone in disbelief, her frustration at its peak. "I swear, he is doing it on purpose!"

Evelyn couldn’t help but smile, their catfight cutting through her tension. "You did the same last week when he was merely trying to pick you up at Zevian’s demand." She took Damien’s side, recalling how Avery had tortured him for a few minutes at the hospital before going downstairs.

Avery scowled and asked Evelyn to try, "You should call him! "

Evelyn smiled and took out her phone to call Damien. And he picked it up right after a few mere seconds. "Yes, Evelyn?"

Evelyn smiled and closed her friend’s mouth who started cursing out very loud. They were still on the street. Once reaching the car, Evelyn took a deep breath and started, "About the mission I asked you to abandon a few days ago..."

Damien hummed in response on the other end, letting Evelyn finish her part. He had insisted on continuing his investigation into Evelyn’s birth revelation, but in her fear of facing her real parents, one who had abandoned her at the orphanage before William and his mother had taken her in, she had told him to stop. But now, with Reema’s sudden disappearance and the gnawing suspicion about Gracia’s death, Evelyn’s instincts had come roaring back to life, forcing her to face whatever was in store about the painfully odd past.

"I need you to continue it," Evelyn said, her voice firmer now. "Reema has emptied her home. I need you to find her. Find out where she and Mariam are right now."
