Chapter 64: Confessing Sins
The next day, Kiana slowly woke up from her sleep to find both her mommy and daddy beside her. A small smile tugged at her lips as she realized their arms were wrapped around her, forming a protective cocoon, making sure no one could come between them. Slowly, she wriggled out of her father’s large hand, her movements delicate as she shifted toward her mother, nestling into Evelyn’s warmth.
Evelyn woke to the sensation of her little bear trying to cling to her tighter. She chuckled softly, pulling Kiana fully into her arms, and pressed a tender kiss on top of her messy hair.
"Morning, baby," she whispered gently, her voice soft with affection.
"Good morning, Mommy!" Kiana beamed, her sleepy face lighting up instantly.
Evelyn’s heart melted at the sight of her little girl’s radiant smile. She kissed her forehead again, brushing a few strands of hair away from her face.
"Should we wake up Dad?" Kiana asked gingerly, the routine they usually followed every morning creeping into her thoughts. She had tried to convince her mommy to include Daddy in their morning kiss tradition, but Mommy wasn’t too keen on it. Still, Kiana was happy enough that they slept together.
Evelyn glanced at Zevian, who had turned onto his back, still deep in peaceful slumber. She smiled fondly. "Let’s not wake him up just yet, sweetheart," she murmured softly, pulling the blanket over him a little more. "Mommy took Daddy on a long ride last night. He’s really tired."
Kiana’s smile faded as she glared at her sleeping daddy, her round doe-eyes narrowing. "You guys went out without me? Hmph!" she huffed, sitting up and crossing her arms with a pout.
"Daddy was really stressed last night, sweetie," Evelyn explained, gently fixing the mess of Kiana’s hair. "He couldn’t sleep, so I took him out to help him relax. But I promise, we’ll go out together today, just the two of us, after school."
Kiana blinked at her mother, her pout softening. She sighed softly. "Just you and me?" she asked, her tone hopeful as she realized lately her daddy seemed to be taking up most of her mommy’s attention.
"Deal!" Evelyn confirmed with a smile.
