The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot

Chapter 61: Divorce

Evelyn stirred slowly in her sleep, the warmth of the soft hotel sheets wrapped around her, blending with the heat radiating from the strong arms wrapped securely around her waist. Her eyelashes fluttered against her cheeks as she blinked awake, taking in the dim lighting of the luxurious room.

She blinked, her heart skipping a beat as she felt Zevian’s solid body pressed against her from behind, his arm looped around her waist as if he were protecting her even in sleep. He lay close, too close. A soft gasp left her lips as she realized she was wearing nothing but a bathrobe, and her body stiffened in alarm. What...what happened last night?

As she turned her head slightly, she saw him more clearly—Zevian’s sharp features, softened by sleep, his jet-black hair slightly tousled, his breathing even and deep. Her eyes drifted toward his neck, almost popping out. There it was—a vivid mark standing out against his skin. The sight brought memories crashing back, and her face instantly flushed red with embarrassment. Holy shit! Did she do it?

Her heart raced, the mix of shame and embarrassment swirling inside her. Slowly, she began to lift his arm, careful not to disturb him. She nearly slipped free when his grip tightened and he pulled her closer, drawing a startled breath from her as she found herself pressed against his firm chest. The steady thumping of his heart rang in her ears, and his breath was warm against her neck.

"It’s still early. Sleep for a while," Zevian murmured sleepily, his deep voice raspy and hushed against her ear. The feel of his words so close sent a shiver down her spine, and her cheeks flamed red once again.

"I-I have an important meeting today..." Evelyn stammered, her voice barely above a whisper as she tried to keep her composure. "I need to get to Avery’s office early."

Zevian let out a soft sigh, his grip loosening around her waist. "Alright...," he said with reluctance, his arm slowly slipping away from her. Evelyn, seizing the moment, quickly slipped out of his embrace and practically fled into the bathroom, her face burning in embarrassment.

Inside the bathroom, she leaned against the door, trying to calm the frantic beating of her heart. "What have I done?" she whispered to herself, placing her hands over her warm cheeks. The flashes of last night filled her mind—those heated moments, the kiss, the way she had completely lost herself. And now, seeing that mark on his neck, she cringed inwardly. "Why didn’t I stop myself?"

Evelyn turned to face the mirror, her reflection only adding to her torment. Her skin was still flushed, her eyes wide with lingering embarrassment. Evelyn groaned softly, turning on the tap to wash the redness away from her face!

The black dress and blazer hanging neatly beside the sink caught her eye. She quickly splashed cold water on her face, hoping to cool the heat in her cheeks, and changed into the outfit. The dress hugged her figure, and the blazer added a touch of professionalism that she desperately needed today.

After pulling her hair into a messy bun, Evelyn took a deep breath and tiptoed to the door, carefully peeking into the room. Zevian was already awake, slipping his arms into his coat. She breathed a sigh of relief as the collar of the coat concealed the mark she had left. At least a bit of it!
