Chapter 51: Special Gifts
"Is Kia asleep?" Evelyn asked as they finished talking about what all things happened in the mansion. Zevian fell into an odd silence and she didn’t want to talk about it anymore.
"She was tired since they had some dance practice in school," Zevian replied, his fingers moving to touch the loose strands of her hair. Evelyn stiffened as his hand played with the wet strands before he turned her around and made her sit on the bed.
Taking out the hairdryer, he plugged it in on the nightstand socket and faced her.
"I will do it myself," Evelyn murmured, her cheeks lightly flushed, definitely from the shower of course. But Zevian didn’t hear her and forced her to sit up on the ottoman.
Pulling her hair back, Zevian gently started drying, worried she might catch a cold. While his eyes were fixed on her hair, Evelyn’s were fixed on his face, the tender expression that made her feel giddy. Meeting him again was sure the best gift of her life.
Evelyn’s eyes traveled down to his Ivory-stripped shirt stained with her tears. She had cried so much that it had ruined the beautiful outfit.
"I ruined your shirt," she murmured with a pout, reaching out to see if it could be wiped off.
"Buy me a new one then," Zevian casually suggested, his words bringing a smile to Evelyn’s face. As much as he hated to admit it, this guy loved getting gifts from her, small or big, it didn’t matter. She knew they were special for him, considering how the pink plush piglet she had gotten him once was neatly mixed in Kiana’s toys.
"Let’s go shopping tomorrow, I will buy everything you want," Evelyn replied with a grin, making him chuckle.
"You sure?" Zevian asked, moving to the other part of her hair.
"Hell sure!" Evelyn replied, a chuckle escaping her lips. But it stopped quite soon when her stomach groaned out loud, screaming that these sweet moments weren’t going to pacify it like her stupid heart.
