Chapter 36: Cupid Alliance
The next day, Kiana was the most excited, waking up early and running around the house with infectious joy. Everyone was glad to see her so happy, hoping that this first family picnic would lead to many more in the future.
Zevian, who had worked all night, made sure to clear his schedule for the day. He strictly warned his assistant not to call him, since Brandon had a knack for getting flustered over minor issues, often bothering him even on his days off. Checking the time that was ticking past eleven, he went to get ready, choosing a pair of shorts and a loose shirt. He took out his best sunglasses that would go with it before walking into the shower.
Meanwhile, Evelyn adamantly shook her head at the little bikini suits Avery had bought for her. "I’m not wearing any of these," she declared, walking to her wardrobe to pick out something more decent.
Avery, already dressed in a pink bikini, rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on! Don’t tell me you’re planning to wear a full swimsuit," she grumbled. She hadn’t wanted to be a third wheel during this family outing, but her new intern, Cupid No. 2, aka Kiana, had pestered her to join.
Earlier that morning, while her parents were away, Avery had taken a grumpy Kiana to school, explaining the importance of letting them spend time alone. She had even mentioned the possibility of a baby brother or sister, which had instantly won Kiana over. The little girl eagerly joined hands in "Mission Baby," forming a Cupid Alliance with her aunt.
"This one will look good on you, Mommy," Kiana said, pointing to a bold red bikini with innocent enthusiasm.
Avery’s smile returned at her assistant words. Patting the little girl’s head, she said, "You have great taste, Kia. Now, let’s make your mommy wear it."
Kiana understood the mission and nodded to her boss. She quickly ran to Evelyn, her little fingers intertwining with her mother’s as she tugged, urging her to put on the swimsuit. "Please, Mommy! Please wear it! We’ll be matchy-matchy!"
"Pretty please?" Kiana added with a pout, her puppy eyes making Evelyn sigh.
