"...they may have sensed that the winter this time would be monstrous, so they want our pack. And they sent forth a person who probably deals with black magic, one who believes themselves to be above the goddess. That person who claimed to be my mate was probably here to gather intel."
"Alpha Snow of the Dark Snow Pack." Elder Benjamin suddenly spat. "It can only be Alpha Snow of the Dark Snow Pack. That person is a demon!"
Reana’s heart skipped a beat. Her eyes darkened. "What quarrel would he have with us?"
"Perhaps our delegation to his territory angered him," Maaya said, unease in her voice. "Or, just like every time he attacks a pack... he does it for fun. That could have been the reason he came. He came to cause fear and panic, then he attacked the temple to prove a point."
"This is why we never should’ve reached out to them. Alpha Snow despises us," Elder Thomas growled.
"If that were true, his Zeta wouldn’t be here pursuing one of our own," Elder Beth spoke, eyes narrowed.
"He could be acting alone, or he’d gone rogue without us knowing," Elder Thomas argued.
"He’s a Zeta, not a traitor," Elder Jaxson snapped. "Zetas follow orders. If he’s here, it’s either a test... or a trap."
A fresh wave of murmurs rolled through the chamber.
"Then we should imprison and question him," Thomas barked.
"No," Elder Beth said firmly. "If we act first, we confirm guilt we haven’t proven. That would play right into their hands. We don’t know if this is Alpha Snow’s doing. And we don’t make enemies lightly, especially not ones capable of leveling our Pack."
