Chapter 141: Horrible Prick
"Not exactly."
Reana raised a brow. "Oh?"
Ryder sighed, "His parents were killed by monsters and he didn’t want to live anymore, so I let him reunite with his family..."
"You killed him," she corrected.
"Technically speaking, no." He said with a hint of defensiveness. Taking her hand into his. "He asked me to end his life, Reana. He was suffering, and I...I helped him." Ryder’s voice trailed off at Reana’s unamused expression.
Reana’s gaze narrowed, her expression unyielding. "That’s still murder, Ryder. No matter how you spin it, that’s still taking a life."
"Right. It is..." he nodded with understanding, then spun around. "I should have waited for the monsters to devour him instead. He wouldn’t have had a grave right now."
"You..." her words caught in her throat. This man cannot be helped. He was tangled in a mess of chaos. The more she tried to unravel the threads of his sanity, the more they seemed to knot.
Reana’s eyes searched Ryder’s face, but all she saw was a reflection of her own confusion and frustration. "Just how much more complicated can you get?"
He smiled cheekily, "It depends on which angle you’re looking at." His eyes sparkled with mischief, and Reana felt a flutter in her chest.
She raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite herself. "Which angle are you looking at, Ryder?" she asked, her voice laced with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
