Chapter 71: Confusing The Enemies
"I’ve received a report from my scout that the Black Moon Pack is constructing a wall around their whole territory." Moss growled, his expression darkening.
"How can that be possible?" Victor laughed mockingly, his tone dripping with disdain. "Do you think building a wall around all four borders is a joke? That requires manpower, resources, and at least six to twelve months of labor. Your scouts must be seeing things, Moss."
Victor’s smirk grew wider, causing the scars on the face to amplify his terrifying looks, but Moss’s expression only turned grimmer, his eyes flashing with a warning. "My scouts don’t make mistakes, Victor. And neither do I."
Victor sneered, "And your words are enough to convince us? I think not, Moss. We need proof, not empty claims."
Moss’s jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with a hint of anger. "What’s stopping you from going there yourself to take a look?" he growled, his tone laced with frustration.
Victor shuddered at the thought, his mind recoiling in horror. How could he go back there after what happened to him? The memories still lingered, etched into his mind like a scar.
That red wolf, with its piercing, menacing blue eyes and razor-sharp claws, had traumatized him so badly that he still saw it in his nightmares. The way it had toyed with him, letting him escape with his last breath, had left Victor with a deep-seated fear he didn’t want to acknowledge.
His face still had healing scars. Although they’d completely heal without leaving scars, it was taking too long and Victor couldn’t understand why.
He shifted in his seat, clearing his throat as he looked away with a weak huff. The sound was meant to convey nonchalance, but Moss wasn’t fooled. He’d seen the flicker of fear in Victor’s eyes, the faint tremble of his lip.
