Chapter 50: Beefing The Moon Goddess
The creaking and swaying of the carriage filled the air as Mirian and Ryder sat opposite each other. It would be weird if the atmosphere was peaceful or lively.
Mirian’s eyes blazed with indignation as she glared intently at Ryder, while he, on the other hand, appeared utterly relaxed, his eyes closed, and head resting against the carriage wall.
"Do you find me so alluring, Mirian?" Ryder’s voice was low and smooth, his words dripping with amusement, despite his eyes remaining shut. "You’ve been staring for over thirty minutes."
Mirian scowled, but beneath her indignation, a flutter in her chest betrayed her true feelings. She couldn’t deny the attraction she felt towards Ryder - every woman would feel some degree of attraction towards him, until he opened his mouth.
But that wasn’t the point here. For some reason, she had this growing sense to protect her Luna from this homme fatale’s allure. Her instincts told her that Ryder was bad news to the Luna.
"Unfortunately, I’m taken, Mirian," he said, his voice low and husky. Ryder’s eyes slowly opened, his gaze locking onto Mirian’s stunned face. A sly smile spread across his face. "Don’t let My Luna know you can’t take your eyes off me. She’s like a volcano when jealous."
Mirian’s face ignited with a fierce blush as she spluttered, "You - you wish!" But her pink cheeks and flustered demeanor only seemed to amuse Ryder, his smile growing wider as he leaned back into his seat, his eyes never leaving hers.
"I’m curious about something, Mirian," Ryder said, his voice dripping with intrigue as he folded his arms across his chest. "What does the Moon Goddess task you with this time?" His words were laced with subtle sarcasm.
Mirian frowned, completely lost to whatever he was yapping about.
