Chapter 10: Post Clarity
Klaus slowly opened his eyes, staring at the familiar ceiling of his apartment. His entire body felt stiff, as if he had been asleep for far too long.
With a groan, he stretched his limbs, trying to shake off the discomfort, then reached for his smartphone to check the time.
[6:00 AM | July 23rd, 2125]
Six in the morning? Klaus frowned in confusion.
It was supposed to be around six or seven in the evening, so why was his phone showing 'AM'? Even stranger was the date, July 23rd? Wasn't the date supposed to be July 22nd. Had there been some kind of mistake?
Scratching his head, he let out a sigh and dropped his hand onto the bed.
Instead of the soft fabric of his bedsheets, his fingers pressed into something round and warm.
"...?!"
His body stiffened. Slowly, he lowered his gaze to see what he was touching, only to realize it wasn't a 'thing' at all.
It was someone.
A young woman. She was sleeping soundly with a bit of snot slipping from her nose. Face down on the bed, she looked utterly at peace.
