Chapter 5: Unexpected Guest
When Nikolaus Reinhardt came to, a terrible throbbing headache assaulted his temple. He felt as though someone had taken a good swing at him with a metal baseball bat, and inside his ears were ringing like an alarm bell.
A few seconds passed before he managed to regain his bearing, pushing against the floor as he sat up. At some point, the overwhelming flood of information had knocked him off balance, causing him to collapse.
Rubbing his temple, he groaned.
"Ugh... What the hell was that? Damn book... Wh-what did it... do to my head? I feel funny..."
Hearing the nonsense coming out of his mouth, Klaus shook his head, trying to focus as the pounding in his skull gradually faded. Fortunately, the dizziness lifted, and his vision cleared.
But something was wrong.
"Huh? What is this...?"
He blinked, rubbing his eyes, convinced he was hallucinating. But no matter how many times he looked, the scene in front of him did not change.
The book was gone.
In its place, something—no, someone—had appeared.
A female.
