The Devil's Good Girl

Chapter 297: Transition

Marcus had been in Michael’s place before, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if Marcus was able to get into his place. However, with everything that had happened between them, Marcus had no reason to be in this place.

Most importantly, why would Marcus come in here early in the morning? The sun hadn’t come up yet.

"Marcus, what the hell, man?" Michael remarked as he lowered his head. "Marcus? Are you okay?"

Michael took a careful step forward, studying Marcus, who hadn’t moved or said anything. When Michael was a bit closer, he heard Marcus mumbling something.

"Are you drunk?" Michael asked, now completely awake at this morning’s shock he couldn’t have expected today. "Hey, Marcus..."

"He said he’s gonna make them disappear... but I can’t... the stench... their faces..." Marcus mumbled listlessly. "He wants me to do this... that... the people..."

Suddenly, Marcus reached out a hand and grabbed Michael’s arm. Michael stiffened and jolted when Marcus raised his head, revealing the pale look on his gaunt face.

"Marcus." Michael furrowed his brows in confusion.

How did Marcus look so gaunt overnight?

The eyes underneath Marcus’s eyes were dark and sunken. His cheeks looked hollowed too. His complexion was as white as a sheet. One could explain his distressed appearance, but with such evident weight loss, it could make anyone wonder.

It was only a few days ago since Michael saw him and Marcus wasn’t like this. But now, he could barely recognize Marcus up close.
