Chapter 215: So, please, give him a chance.
If Fil didn’t know there was this strange tension between her and Elise, she would’ve joked about Elise turning into a new leaf. This was the third time Elise arrived before her. But alas, Fil just greeted Elise, good morning and the latter respectively replied with a short greeting.
’I’m starting to dislike this setup,’ thought Fil, busying herself with some of the files she had to review before they left for the site.
Checking the time, Fil was a little surprised that it was already ten in the morning. She glanced at Kenzo’s desk, frowning upon seeing he wasn’t there.
’We’re leaving in one hour, but he still hasn’t arrived.’ Fil intuitively grabbed her phone to call Kenzo. ’Is he okay?’
There was never a time Fil had ever seen Kenzo come in late. Unless he had to do something very important, then he would have said so. The call just rang until it redirected her to voice mail.
"Ken, we have a site visit at noon. Is everything okay? Call me back if you can’t make it."
Gazing down at her phone, her heart swelled with worry. After yesterday’s accident, Fil couldn’t deny it affected her one way or another. If not for Jackson, she would probably be a lot more distracted and out of it. She wouldn’t be surprised if Kenzo felt the same.
With that thought in mind, Fil left a separate message to Kenzo in case he didn’t check his voicemails.
’Also, he took home Quentin with him yesterday,’she thought. ’I wonder what’s wrong?’
Fil sighed, telling herself not to worry too much. It wasn’t like she was worried Kenzo was robbed last night or was murdered.
She resumed her work to pass the time, but waiting had always been proven to make time feel slow. Instead of letting herself be immersed in her work, she would find herself constantly checking the time. She didn’t know why she felt very anxious, but there was something since this morning that felt just wrong.
