The Devil's Good Girl

Chapter 209: Not her

Fil had always been known as an early bird in the office, but ever since she came back, she wanted to come earlier than used to. She would only be in the office for a week. Therefore, she wanted to give more than a hundred percent by showing up early and getting more work done.

In other words, she was already early today, but Elise was earlier.

"Good morning," Fil greeted as she sat down, earning a short smile from Elise. "I thought you were early the other day because you were excited to see me, but you’re early today too."

"Just... I have a lot of work to do." Elise smacked her lips. "I’m swamped. I’ve offered to help Olivia with her other clients on top of the Solana."

"Oh. I didn’t know that. Do you need help?"

"It’s alright. I can... do it. Thanks."

Fil watched Elise try to busy herself in her cubicle. She glanced at the papers on Elise’s desk and then at the latter’s monitor. There were times Elise was early at work, but she was usually just idling or gossiping. Not that she was a bad employee since she still got the job done.

’Did he break up with her?’ wondered Fil, recalling her fight with Marcus the day before. ’I did hint to him that he should break up with Elise first to show his sincerity.’

Fil opened and closed her mouth, but her voice was stuck in her throat. She wanted to talk to Elise, but Elise gave off this distant vibe.

’Never mind.’ She looked away and placed her phone on the side of her desk. ’It’s not like I didn’t expect this when Ken told me she saw Marcus and I.’

With that thought in mind, Fil didn’t bother Elise and gave the young lady the space she needed at the moment. Trying hard to bond with her would only make her look even more guilty.
