The Devil's Good Girl

Chapter 145: No matter who they are

"So?" Marcus smacked his lips, changing the topic so Fil wouldn’t feel so awkward anymore. "What is this, by the way?"

Marcus moved the item she purchased just now. "You seemed too secretive when buying it."

"Right." Fil hummed for a moment, still hearing Valerie’s voice while talking to the staff. Valerie sounded offended and was now berating the staff.

"Since it seemed we’re stuck here, I guess I’ll just give it to you now." Fil offered the paper bag back to him. "It’s for you."

"For me?" he repeated, and she nodded, accepting the paper bag with furrowed brows. "Is this a repayment for the earrings?"

"It’s not a repayment since the earrings are surely ten times more expensive," she shrugged. "You gave me a gift. So I have to return the favor. Didn’t I tell you before? I don’t like owing people. I liked settling scores as soon as I could."

"You didn’t have to." He sighed. "I bought you the earrings because they’re pretty and I want to see you wear them."

"Then it’s the same for me." Her lips stretched from ear to ear while he furrowed his brows. "I also bought it because I want to see you wear it."

Marcus squinted his eyes suspiciously but said nothing. After staring at her for a moment, a sigh escaped him. He took out the small box inside, furrowing his brows as a note was glued on top of it.

[I always like doing matchy things. Should we try it?]

The lines between his brows deepened, smiling at the short note, which was for sure handwritten by her. He glanced up at her before opening the gift.
