Chapter 47: Pretty privilege
After being surrounded by countless good-looking people — Vincent’s circle — Fil was greatly aware of the definition of pretty privilege. People who could get more opportunities and favors just because of how attractive they were. She didn’t want to believe it in the past. One’s hard work and potential could get them just as far.
But right now, she couldn’t help but think that the thing called pretty privilege existed.
"Fil, do you need help? That looks like a lot of things for a woman to carry all alone."
Fil was standing in front of the elevator, turning her head to the man who offered her help. The man offered her a friendly smile, raising his brows as he reached for her stuff.
"Let me help," another man from the man’s side also joined, splitting the documents Fil was carrying to lessen the weight. "Oh, wow. This is heavy. How can you carry all of it?"
"I was raised on the farm," she smiled amicably. "I’m used to carrying weights."
"Wow." The man chuckled awkwardly. "That’s amazing."
Fil kept a smile, letting them carry her things just to test out something. She simply expressed her gratefulness for their help, barely keeping up with the conversation they were trying to make as they waited for the lift.
It had been four days since she came to work all dolled up. At first, it was mostly stares and attention she would get everywhere she went. The next day, she would get countless greetings. And now, the attention had evolved and some employees in the same company would always offer her help.
It was amusing in its own way.
Back then, whenever she told people she was raised on a farm, they immediately assume she was a country bumpkin. But now, they say it was amazing and even complimented the peaceful life in the countryside.
