Chapter 131: Consequences (2)
Yuka took out the butler from her pocket, connected it to the console, and loaded the copied evidence, ready to broadcast. Toru and Kimiko, wearing headsets, sat beside Yuka, nervously fidgeting and taking deep breaths to calm their racing hearts.
Soon, the manager reported to Yuka through the intercom, "Everyone has left the mall."
Yuka acknowledged with a "Got it," turned off the intercom, and nodded to Toru and Kimiko.
At that moment in Central Square, many people, who were abruptly and inexplicably kicked out of the mall, gathered outside. Some were angrily preparing to sue the mall, while others gossiped about what might have happened inside that led to their eviction.
"Hello, everyone," a nervous young voice rang out.
Everyone looked up at the sound and saw that the giant advertising screen, which usually showed glamorous women, had turned blank.
"I am Toru, a logistics student from UUA’s Combat Department," Toru found it easier to speak the truth than he had imagined.
He continued with confidence, "I interned at the Alliance Science Academy for a month. During this time, I discovered that the academy’s dean, Humphrey, is colluding with space pirates and the royalty. They’re trading mecha blueprints and providing research on insectoids to space pirates!"
"I swear by the truth, every word I say is true. If I lie, I shall never participate in any scientific research again," Toru declared firmly. "The story Humphrey told you, about the vice dean escaping with insectoid eggs and being expelled from the academy, was all his own scheme!"
