The wedding had soon come to an end. The wedding after-party was still ongoing, but Kai and I had chosen to leave because we had other things to do... alone.

The door shut behind me with a soft click, and for a moment, neither of us moved. A wide smile was etched on both our lips, and I could see his eyes wide in disbelief that we were, in actuality, married.

I stood still, my back to the door. My breath caught somewhere between anticipation and awe. Kai was in front of me in seconds, undoing his tie with one hand as his other gently cupped my face.

"We are really married, Butterfly," he whispered, voice low and reverent. "Even now... it still doesn’t feel real."

I smiled, my fingers skimming the edge of his jaw. "Then remind yourself."

He didn’t need to be told twice.

Kai’s lips met mine, it was filled with hunger, but it didn’t stay for long on my lips. His lips trailed down my neck, and I tilted my head to the side to give him more access, elongating my throat so he could kiss down the expanse of it and suck my skin in that way that had me shaking, hot waves of pleasure throbbing between my legs.

His hands, usually so precise and cold, trembled slightly as they found the zipper of my gown, sliding it down with excruciating care. The fabric slipped off my shoulders, and I let it fall, standing before him. I could feel his heated gaze on me, like I was the goddess he never believed he could worship.

He captured my mouth with a searing kiss again, then he broke away, and I was breathless as he pressed his forehead to mine.

"Let’s take a shower," he said in a husky voice that left me mildly disappointed.
