Chapter 99
Kai let out a short laugh and then said, "What gain is there if I kill myself? Besides, I do not know what heirloom you are talking about."
Song Ren’s face contorted in rage. "If I let you live, am I not foolish? Don’t fool me, kid. I know Song Yue gave you the family heirloom."
Kai gave him a puzzled look. "Really? He didn’t. I have no idea what you are talking about."
Song Ren gritted his teeth. Kai looked like he really didn’t know what the heirloom was. But Song Yue had said he gave it to Kai. So who was fooling him? If only he knew what it looked like, it would have been much easier.
Meanwhile, on the far side of the mansion, Shen Xue and the Hei Long men moved like shadows.
Earlier, Kai had told Shen Xue about the tunnel system buried beneath the Song mansion, a secret Song Yue had once revealed to him in case something unexpected and life-threatening happened. Standing at the entrance of the tunnel were two armed guards. Shen Xue gave a hand signal, and two of his men crept ahead, swiftly and quietly neutralizing the two guards standing watch.
Shen Xue crouched low as he led his men through the underground tunnel. The air was damp as they navigated the narrow passageways in silence, every step crunching quietly on the stone and dust beneath them.
Shen Xue then emerged from the tunnel’s concealed door behind a tall bookshelf in the study.

Song Ren had lost the last sliver of patience, and he could feel his blood boil, hotter than ever before due to frustration, annoyance, and anger.
"I’ve had enough of your games," he snarled, pressing the muzzle of his gun directly to Amelia’s head. "If I can’t get the heirloom, at least I’ll destroy what you care about most."
