Chapter 144: Your Mouth
Leo killed the remaining Wendigos, who didn’t stand a chance against him. Once they were dead, he returned to the women as they were waking up. Astra was rubbing her eyes while glancing around.
’’Where have you been, master?’’ she asked in a tired voice.
Veladra looked at him, waiting for him to answer, causing him to smile. ’’More monsters tried attacking while we were sleeping. I killed them just as they broke the first barrier,’’ he explained.
When the two demons heard this, they become worried, but Leo waved them away. ’’Don’t worry, I’ll deal with most monsters while you help.’’
After lighting a fire to help the women warm up, he sat down beside it, letting its flickering glow chase away the chill. As they settled, he pulled out some food and handed it to them, ensuring they regained their strength.
Once they were comfortable, he rose to his feet. ’’I’m going to check on the cave-in,’’ Leo announced, his voice steady.
Without waiting for a reply, he stepped away from the warmth of the fire and disappeared into the shadowy embrace of the forest. He started walking through the underbrush, only to be stopped by massive boulders.
Leo stepped back, his eyes narrowing as he noticed that the cave-in had completely sealed them off from the rest of the first floor. His thoughts raced as he pondered, ’How did this happen? Could the dungeon have done this to slow us down, or to trap us here?’
After a moment of contemplation, he shrugged and began tracing the line of fallen boulders, searching for any way through. Despite his efforts, it quickly became clear that there was no path forward.
Leo continued searching the nearby area and noticed the monsters were avoiding him. ’’They’re scared and don’t want to fight, it seems,’’ he muttered with a chuckle.
Afterward, he decided to check his status, eager to see how much stronger he had become from all the battles he had faced.
