Chapter 134: Was It Always This Bad

Leo was sitting on top of the ant while it traveled through the forest, followed by an ever-growing swarm that washed over the underbrush. A few hours later, they appeared at the base of an enormous colony.

It was a mount in the middle of the sea of trees which confused him. ’How come I didn’t see this thing when I was flying?’

He shrugged and climbed off the monster’s back, landing with a heavy thud before striding into the colony. The ants immediately parted to clear a path for him as he got deeper into their home.

The monsters were scurrying out of his way. Leo couldn’t help but chuckle at their frantic efforts to avoid him at all costs. Half an hour later, he arrived at a large chamber that was full of dead creatures piled in morbid piles.

Smaller ants rushed around organizing everything before he continued on down the tunnel and stepped into an egg chamber, causing tougher looking ants to rush toward him but soon backed off when a low chittering echoed from the opposite tunnel.

’Looks like the queen is down that way,’ he mused with an excited smile.

Following that, Leo continued on until coming to the queen’s chambers, where hundreds of ants shuffled about nervously. While admiring the amount of monsters, a woman’s voice sounded in his mind.

’Hello Demon King, what brings you to my home?’ a massive black ant appeared from the nearby shadows.

Leo’s eyes widened in surprise as he took in the queen’s massive form, easily the size of a small bus and standing twice his height. A grin spread across his face as he addressed her, his voice confident and persuasive.

’’I want you to fight for me in the coming war,’’ he said. ’’In return, I’ll ensure you grow stronger and thrive in a new home.’’

When the ant queen heard this, her beady black eyes narrowed at him. ’You want us as your slaves?’
