"Why aren’t you moving, Rafael? You don’t want to make love here? It looks comfortable," Annalise said, looking around the area.
There was a blanket they could use if he did not want to lay on the grass.
"It is not that," Rafael answered, continuing to get her out of the armour, but he made no attempts to take off her clothes. "Your father was setting up another area for me to propose. I fear that he might come searching for us to show you what he put together."
"Although we will wed and are both of age, it would be a bit awkward for me to have your father walk in on us. I’m certain he’s tried not to think of the possibility that we were already sharing a bed. Unless you wish for this to be quick-"
"I do not. Tonight is not a night I want to rush to avoid my father. Then, should we find my father to see what he put together and return here? I will let my mother know that we do not want to be disturbed and let her keep my father busy. Or maybe I should follow your rules and wait until we get married to sleep together," Annalise said, merely to tease Rafael.
"What?" Rafael replied, disliking where this was going. They were already sleeping together so why stop now?
"It is normal on your side for women to wait until they marry to be intimate with a man. I’ve already not listened to that rule, but maybe I can follow it now. Keep away from you until we get married and then have a fun wedding night. Doesn’t it sound fun?" Annalise asked, trying not to laugh.
Rafael sensed that it was a joke to her, but it was a joke he would have her regret making. Now he was determined to show her why that wouldn’t last. "Not many follow that rule like you think. Not even women heavily sheltered by their fathers. If that is what you want, so be it. We should leave to find your father so we can eat."
"W-Wait," Annalise said, putting up her hands to stop him. He was meant to be frustrated with what she said, not think about her father coming to see them, and then they would have their first night here as an engaged couple. How could he just go along with what she proposed?
