Chapter 425: Moving forward (2)
The first meeting for the truce continued with both sides saying what they wanted with many disagreements here and there. It was decided that with the most important part understood, which was the two sides not attacking each other, they would continue to add more to the truce the day Annalise and Rafael got married.
Annalise didn’t mind the truce not being completed today because her father might want to add or remove something after speaking with the king and queen.
They had used up a large portion of the day and now all Annalise wanted to do was go back home to her friends. If there was nothing more to be discussed with her or Rafael, they could start packing to return to the border to see her family.
Annalise enjoyed her day with the queen, duchess, and their friends, but she couldn’t stay longer when her family had to be worried about her. She had just returned to the border only to leave with Rafael again. She had to be a good daughter and leader to return to let everyone know she was safe.
"Let me borrow your arm for a moment," Annalise said, resting her head on Rafael’s arm. "I should be rewarded for staying calm and not hurting any of those old men. Normally, I would have pulled a knife out to stab one of them. My mother will be happy to hear that I did not."
"The carriage will be here soon for you to rest," Rafael said, putting his arm around Annalise so she wouldn’t fall if she drifted off to sleep while standing. He hoped to not be disturbed later after having to spend so much time with a group of people. Half of which he did not like.
"I hear someone coming. I hope it is not anyone from the court because the day might not end with me not stabbing someone. If it is Otto or Julius, protect them from me," Annalise said as there was still some anger for the two men lingering and should they say something now, she might not be able to hold onto her self-control.
She was trying her best to not attack anyone when the truce was so important to her, but they kept poking at her.
"Be rest assured that I have nothing to do with the court," Edgar said, walking to the couple with his hands up. "This would be a good time for a quick smoke."
