Chapter 396: Free (2)
Rafael planned on keeping the maid here until Annalise was out of town and on her way to the palace. He didn’t ask why Siena wasn’t keeping her maid around, but he knew there had to be a conflict since she was sending away the one person she was close to.
What Rafael did not need was for Kayla to be twisting any stories and having Annalise become a target for Siena’s father if he was going to come looking for his daughter.
"I do not know what I might have done wrong. If it is for how I spoke to Annalise, I apologise," said Kayla.
Rafael narrowed his eyes as this was news to him. "What are you talking about concerning Annalise?"
Kayla bit her lip as now she felt she had shared something Rafael had no knowledge about. Had Annalise not whined and told him about their issues? There was nothing else she could think of for why he had taken her.
"You’ve been loud since you were brought here. Keeping quiet now won’t get you out of here faster," said Rafael.
Now that she mentioned Annalise, he saw all the more reason for her to be here.
Kayla hesitated to tell him the truth but thinking it couldn’t get any worse than she was already experiencing she answered, "It didn’t make any sense for you to pick her over my lady. You might not know that she killed a man and didn’t have any remorse over taking his life. She is wild and a man like yourself should not be around her."
"I see," Rafael said, realising now why there might be conflict. If she mentioned Annalise being wild to her face, he was surprised to see that Kayla was still in one piece. "You’ll be free when I think you won’t be a problem. Keep quiet until then."
