The Knight's Mysterious Maid

Chapter 384: Close to peace (1)

"Patience, Annalise. You promised him you would stay outside and I don’t feel like chasing you right now," said Ezra.

"I wasn’t going to move but aren’t you concerned about the noise we heard? Rafael told me if I heard a loud noise I should get far away. Someone used a gun and we have no idea who was hurt by it. This is torture," Annalise muttered, tempted to forget what she promised and go inside.

"I don’t have a lover inside to be concerned and I am warning you that if you try to go in there, I will catch you and take you back to the manor. If you’re not going to fight, why did he let you come? Was it needed for so many to come for one man? Is his uncle a threat to our people?" Ezra asked. He was yet to understand why he should be interested in killing Travis.

"He tried to kidnap me and since he wanted to marry off Rafael to a woman of his choice, he would like me dead. He is a threat to your future leader and now that he is taken care of, we can focus on the truce. I hope we get to go to the palace soon. What is taking them so long to come out?" Annalise asked, going back to worrying.

"You should have just stayed at the manor or he should have snuck out so you didn’t know where he was going. It wouldn’t be a lie if he didn’t tell you so don’t look at me like that," Ezra said before Annalise could comment. "I am bored, but that doesn’t mean I will follow you in there to help them. Let them take care of their own fight."

"I should have brought Thomas with me because he would have been quiet unlike you. Again, this is why you are still alone," Annalise muttered.

"Who is speaking about me back home? I have asked you over and over again, but you failed to give me an answer. I can only assume that you are lying and trying to make me feel bad that I do not have someone in my life because you suddenly have a partner. Do not cross me, Annalise. I will tell that man about your youth," Ezra warned.

"Go ahead. I doubt anything you say will surprise him. That won’t change that I’ve overheard a few things about you. I can’t help it anymore. I need to go closer," Annalise said, sliding off her horse.

She wouldn’t go inside but she wanted to walk around instead of staying in one place. All of Travis’s men outside were either dead or surrounded by knights so there was nothing to worry about. There was no one outside to try hurting her.
