Chapter 225: Kill for you (1)
"Isn’t it nice for the two of us to be alone together? I’m sorry to take you away from playing with the children, but we must get the things we need for the ball early so we don’t bother the men later. Thank you," Beatrice thanked Logan after he offered his hand to help her out of the carriage.
"You’re welcome. And next," Logan said, smiling at Annalise who was ready to get out of the carriage without any help. "Don’t avoid my hand, Annalise. I want to look like a gentleman here."
Annalise used Logan’s hand to step down out of the carriage. "If you want to be a gentleman, please save me if she wants me to try on a dress," she whispered.
Trying on dresses was not fun for her and she didn’t need a dress since one was already prepared for the ball.
"She is excited to have someone to shop with after staying inside because of the danger in town. If you don’t mind, please help her enjoy the moment. She is like a mother to me so I like seeing her happy. What’s that, Annalise? You can’t wait to try on a dress?" Logan asked out loud to get Beatrice’s attention.
"You!" Annalise exclaimed, trying to get ahold of Logan, but he slipped away from her like the slippery fish he was.
"Then we shouldn’t waste any time and go to this dressmaker I am familiar with," Beatrice said, returning to Annalise’s side to hold her hand. "Rafael has already prepared you a dress, but men have no idea what styles work best for us so it wouldn’t hurt to have a few extras to pick from."
Annalise looked around at the shops they walked by. The dress she wore could never compare to the ones on display and she knew the price would have her spending all the money she made.
Annalise tried not to think about the torture of trying on dresses and focused more on keeping Beatrice happy. Whatever was happening with her brother seemed to be spoiling her happiness so for a few hours, Annalise didn’t mind being a doll for her.
