The Knight's Mysterious Maid

Chapter 113: Spoiled (2)

Rafael gave Edwin the command to let Henry inside of the gates and allowed him to come inside his study so they could talk without the servants trying to listen to the conversation.

"Rafael," Henry entered the study with his arms wide open. "It has been a while since I met with you or your father. It is good to be here again."

Rafael did not share the same excitement. Whether Henry would ever be allowed to step foot inside his manor depended on how this conversation would go. "It has not been long. You were here for the party and for dinner when I was asked to escort your daughter."

"That is true but it feels longer for some reason. Our families have never been angry with each other," Henry said, sitting down on a couch in front of Rafael. "Do you have any cigars or something to drink here?"

"I do not have either one. Our families would not be at odds if not for what your daughter did. Get to the point and stop stalling. Say what you have come all this way to tell me," Rafael said.

He wasn’t in the mood for a pleasant conversation with Henry. This was not a time to be acting like nothing was wrong.

"Right," Henry said, taking his own cigar out of his coat for him to light. "I’ve been dealing with a lot from my wife and daughter these days. It is not a second that goes by without me having to hear that you have broken Delilah’s heart and then there is the fact that you shamed my daughter in front of your servants. You know that my family has a reputation to uphold and Delilah is looking to marry so there-"

"Your daughter forgot about this reputation you speak of when she tried to undress before me. You should be more worried about her actions than me kicking her out of my home. I gave her the chance to walk out here without my help. She did not move so I moved her. Did you come here to tell me that I was the one wrong in that situation?" Rafael asked, leaning back in his chair.

He was tempted to throw the small stone which belonged to Annalise at Henry’s head and if the conversation annoyed him more, he would throw the big rock which belonged to him. The only thing stopping him from throwing either one already was the fact he would have to get rid of Henry’s body when he was finished if the force of the stone ended up killing him.

"No, my daughter is also wrong. I have given her an ear full for what she did and she is not leaving home without an escort. I had to fire a good coachman because of this. You don’t seem to-"

"If you light that cigar in my study, you will find yourself on fire," Rafael warned.

He did not smoke and he did not allow it in his study or bedroom. It was rare that he made an exception for anyone in these places. If Henry wanted to smoke as they spoke, this conversation would need to be had outside so his study would not be left with that awful smell.
