Chapter 109: Confused (3)
"Thank you," Annalise replied, taking out a somewhat green shirt for him to wear. What was she supposed to do from this point on with him standing so close to her? She could only wait for him to move. What was she to say? Was she to turn around and hand him the shirt? She would be close to Rafael if she turned around to face him.
"I thought you said facing me would not be much of a challenge. It seems you were wrong," Rafael said to help her relax. He looked down at her because of their difference in height. He could no see her face, but he knew she had to be overthinking the position they were in now. A little teasing would get her fired up.
It must be that he had drunk something strong and didn’t realise it since it could be the only explanation as to why he was suddenly so captured by the smallest thing she did. She was more strange than he placed her to be.
The competitiveness inside Annalise washed away the awkwardness of her standing so close to Rafael. She sprung around to show that she was not scared to face him. That she would not be affected by the sight of him like this. She would not fill his ego that she was like all the other women who went crazy for him.
Rafael moved his head back so that he would not be hit by her. He had to applaud her for how daring she could be. She really was suited to be a knight. Her unpredictable behaviour amused him and perhaps that was the answer to why he was becoming so curious about her.
Silence fell on them once more as Annalise looked up at Rafael while he peered down with her. She had seen the exposed chest of many men before to not crumble like a fool before him.
"If anyone were to walk in, they would misunderstand why are standing so close. I should get out of your way," Annalise said, trying to scoot to the side to get away from him, but she soon found herself trapped after Rafael placed his hand to block her. Whatever game he was playing, she did not want to be a part of it.
"No one but Edwin would be so bold to enter my room without my permission. Funny enough, you are the only one who can since you are my maid. You should feel honoured," Rafael said.
"Ecstatic," Annalise replied, keeping her eyes on him so he would not feel as though he has won. If the roles were reversed, she would have him crumbling before her.
